I know it is hard, and sometimes it is practically inevitable. You will always fall for that male best friend. It’s hard not to. I mean he is always there in your darkest day to offer you comfort. He is omni-present, and somehow the heart just grows fonder because he is simply everywhere. He is a guy who tells you “Come on, you are perfect the way you are.” “ I think you are pretty. I don’t know why he doesn’t think the same way as I do.” “ You are the best. You are everything a guy wants, smart, witty and charming.” With all these nice words ringing at the side of your ears, all you know is that you just want to hear more.
But you know what, you should never fall for your male best friend. I used to say that platonic friendship doesn’t exist. I take it back. It exists but one vital condition must be met. Both of you must not be interested in each other. I am not implying that both parties must be ugly or anything. He or she could be hell hot, just that this best friend of the opposite sex of yours has a trait or characteristic that you just simply can’t stand if he is your other half. Maybe he has punctuality issues. Every time by the time he arrives at the scene of crime, the war’s over?
You should never ever fall for your male best mate because gee won’t it feel like incest? It’s like fantasizing of hooking out with a brother of yours. It just doesn’t feel right, doesn’t it?
Okay, screw those morals. If you really end up liking him and he doesn’t feel the same way, all I know is that it will be pretty devastating especially if both of you are those who talks about anything under the sun, “You name it, we chat it” sort of people. I think it will just tear you apart if he starts yakking about his love conquests and sexual escapades. You can’t just tell him “Shut up. It’s killing me when I hear you with somebody else” because he is your mate and things will change if he ever knows you feel something more. You could try changing the topic, I suppose. And most importantly, you can’t just walk away as though as he is just some guy. Because this guy is your best guy friend and you are simply obliged in some form to listen to him as he pour his heart out to you.
And I think if the guts of him ever seek love advise from you, you would just want to bang your head on the wall. I really don’t know what sort of great ideas you can come out with if all you are thinking in your head is “You and that stupid slut would never work out.” The girl he likes may be the sweetest thing ever, but I guess when she becomes your love rival, any angel becomes a bitchy slut.
Most importantly, I think the emotional drama playing in your head is enough to drive you on the brink of insanity. You would be thinking best friend and boyfriend. Both have the initials of “B.F”, so why can’t you be both? You said you love me, so why can’t this love transcend to something more? I am so much better than her in so many ways. You said I was the best girl ever. Smart, charming, and witty, so why aren’t you falling for me? You see just these few questions alone will keep you sleepless for how many bloody nights. It’s just not worth it. The worse thing is you know you just can't lose him. If you lose him, you might just cry buckets of blood.
No, I am not in love with my male best friend. Guy best friends aren’t even that great to begin with, but they are pretty cool resources to understand the mystique of males. Lol! Most of them are just traitors of the brotherhood. Haha! Anyway, the point is don’t fall for your male best friend if you have one, cos it’s always heart wrenching. If he falls for you, that’s his problem. If you both have mutual liking for each other, I guess that’s a good union, if nothing goes wrong.
