Things I have learnt from Disney.

When I was young, my mum fed me a TV diet of Disney princesses which led me to become the way I am.If you think I am superficial, blame Disney. Notorious for going after the hot guys, hey, name me a Disney prince who isn’t gorgeous. Yeah, none! Disney taught me to only go for looks.

Before I move on, let me list the Disney shows my Dad bought me when I was a little girl: Little Mermaid, Snow white and the 7 dwarves, Aladdin and The Lion King. Okay, I don’t really like Snow White cos I think she is ugly (with her short black hair. I think she looks like me and I think I am not pretty so she is probably ugly too) and the scene where the witch fell off from the cliff just freaked me out too much. I like “Lion King”. It was the first Disney show I cried uncontrollably just because the Dad was killed in a stampede. And I stopped watching it cos it was too emotional.

So the 2 biggest Disney princess film that influenced me is probably Little Mermaid and Aladdin. Prince Eric and Aladdin are so damn cute. Yeah, at a tender age, I was already equipped with the ability to appreciate beauty in man.

But what did I learn from Little Mermaid? It’s ok to fall for a hot guy you saw only once and sacrifice everything for him to be part of his world. Change yourself and he will love you! Even if my family objects, who cares, I love him! It’s true love. I will save him in the wildest storm, trade my tail for feet. It’s ok even if I can’t talk all my life. I am cool with being unable to gossip. I just wanna stay by his side. If he like another girl, it’s okay I will just stab myself and turn into foam so that he and her can live happily ever after (that’s the Anderson version)

Aladdin is even worse. It says that falling for a thief is perfectly acceptable. There’s nothing wrong with him giving false income statements, lying the existence about his career and even creating a false identity. He will show you his world. He is rich (pretending to be), has a charming smile and he seems sincere. Plus he has a cool ride. How can you resist it? Not everyone has a magic carpet. The lesson learnt: materialism and that it’s okay to accept lying bastards. Don’t worry, he will show you his world and touch you with his desperate attempts to win your heart. He makes mistakes all because of you. He will be a better man in the future because now you are here to guide him.

I only watched beauty and the beast once when my mum borrowed the tape from her colleague. I love the story and the shiny backdrop. So I think it influence my love perspective the most. It teaches us to be delusional. Behind every beast, there’s a prince. It doesn’t really help that Prince Adam is freaking hot. Bad behavior and being temperamental is attractive, that’s what Disney advocated. So don’t blame me when I say “there’s something about him” He will change. He will. My love and patience will melt him. With guys like Prince Adam, this is why girls fall for the meanest jerks. He will morph into Prince Adam when he experiences true love (from me).

Thank god I am not a guy. Lol! Cos if I am a guy, I gonna say Disney taught me to kiss every girl when she is asleep. Lol! So don’t blame me for sexually violating you when you are dead drunk or unconscious due to some serious drug taking. I am just trying to wake you up, dear. So pucker up, baby and let me give you a taste of my “ru huo qing chun”
