To date, I have won 7 pairs of tickets. LOL! Yes, I am contemplating being a movie critic. At least I can do what I want. LOL! Due to an overload of work and personal commitment, I am going to compressed all the movies I watched into 1 post. So in this post alone, I will be commenting on Hugo (3D), Man on a ledge and John Carter (3D).That’s a 3-for-the-post-of-1. Good deal, huh? LOL!
If you ever wonder where your dreams come from,
look around: this is where they're made.
I love this quotes. Considering the number of movies I watched, it really justifies why I have such a great imagination. So I watched Hugo with the birthday girl on the 22nd Feb (Wed). Well, if you hadn't heard me mentioning about it all day, this movie is actually nominated for 11 Oscars awards. If I am not wrong, the results should be out by now. I made a wild guess of 7 awards simply because 7 rhyme with 11. Haha. Wonder if I hit the jackpot? Lol.
It’s quite widely acclaimed for its filmography, extravagant costumes and special effects. I have to say there is something dream-like about the movie. A grand clock, a machine that can draw and a good mystery behind it, all these just seem to add some magical elements to the movie. First 3D movie of the year and it was not that disappointing. Lol! Somehow, 3D movies always disappoint me as I fail to see the purpose of it all. But Hugo’s 3D effects was pretty convincing. It made me want to raise my hands to catch some snowflakes. And there was this lobster in a scene; I was pretty much tempted to catch it.
In conclusion, I think it is pretty good, but generally not my genre. The movie was a little slow for my liking in the start and I nearly well, fell asleep. I did think for a moment that this was quite a terrible birthday movie but in the end, Hugo did redeem itself towards the end. It just gets better. So don’t sleep through it, the best is indeed saved for the last. And the greatest gift of the day, I got the premium notebook and color pencils. Whee~~~ Yea, I know I am a little too old to be so excited for color pencils. But hey, they are exclusive!
You can only push an innocent man so far.
Today is the day that everything changes one way or another.
And on Thursday, I went to watch Man on a ledge. Okay, pretty much describes my current predicament, girl on the ledge. Only the thing is, I am NOT ready to die and it is important that everybody understands that. No I am not suicidal in anyway, just playing with another quote of the movie. =) This movie has seriously a hell lot of many taglines that speak out to me. Now may I present to you my favorite of them all… “I will leave as I enter this world - innocent”.
For a show where the male lead stays on the lead nearly 90% of the time, it fares way better than expected. I was first captivated its intriguing trailer. Believe it or not, I even went to join a SMS contest in a desperate hope to increase my chances of getting a ticket. But apparently, I got it free yet again. I know it’s such a joke. Heaven enjoys making sport of me.
If you only have time for one movie, this is the one. It is just so freaking good! For once (due to lack of time), I did not read the synopsis before catching the film. Before you slap your head at my queer behavior, I would like to defend myself. Okay, I have no defense. I just like spoiling the fun for myself. The plot just kept me on my toes and was actively stimulate my brain cells. I just kept wondering “what the hell is going on” in a good way. It is just very engaging. And the best of it all, it touches on my secret interest on breaking into buildings. Lol! I picked out a few good tips and have increased my (if-not-very-vast) knowledge on security systems considerably. Feel free to consult me if you have any enquiries. LOL!
We Did Not Cause This! But We Will 'END' It!
And finally just today, I watched John Carter. This is the first time in my whole entire life I am actually going for a premiere and I have no idea what to wear. I even googled to seek some sound advice. But then I decided it was probably the same as a premiere or a preview, just that it was a flashier name? "What's in a name? That which we call a rose. By any other name would smell as sweet." Nope, this is not their quote. This is from Romeo and Juliet. This Disney franchise fails deeply when it comes to meaningful quotes other than the one above. Seriously people, we can end things even though we don't cause it. Yes I know, nobody is with me when I advocate for the greater good. Fine, I rest my case.
To cut the story short, I don’t really like the movie. I am clueless by the “creative” plot. To put it simply, I don’t really understand the plot. And this movie doesn’t have to be 3D. Even the bouncing balls at the start of the show (not the show but the advert) are more impactful. It is a terrible movie, other than the rather HOT actor and skimpily-dressed actress. It is like a Prince-of-Persia wannabe but never-gonna-be.
The funniest moment probably got to be B surrendering her 2 Hand phones, 1 I touch, 1 Laptop and 1 PSP. And this isn't even part of the show, yes you all get my point. Apparently gadgets aren’t allowed. Is this the case for all galas? Too bad, I can’t snap a photo of its tight security. Well, I won’t say it wasted 2.5 hours of my life since I did enjoy ogling at the actor’s bulging muscles and on my way there, I saw a damn cute ang-moh. So it was still not a wasted trip. =)
Tomorrow I will be catching Billionaire with my Bro. Change of companion since he got a break off work and he was so enthusiastic about it till I didn’t have the heart to tell him I would rather not go with you. And on Wednesday, I will be finally going for The Lady premiere. What luck, I gave my Friday preview tickets away and I got the Gala tickets. Best of all, my Dad say Michelle Yeoh will be attending the Gala. Yes, a sua-ku at heart, I can’t decide which autograph to bring for her to sign. I hope they don’t confiscate my HP again. I wanna take a photo with her!!! *pouts*
